Black the traditional color of mourning

I am in mourning for Haiti, you may join me if you like in changing your blog background to black for the time being...

Ive been in a daze, I have been sitting at the computer for 2 days searching news articles and the web for anything, I dont know what...Our files FInally got to IBESR on Monday, and everything was utterly distroyed on Tuesday, thats crazy to me..I feel for the people of Haiti, for the moms who lost babies, and the babies who lost moms. I heard tonight Judge Cadet is dead, I believe it, he is the judge we just met and signed our papers in front of on our last trip to Haiti. This is a picture of me with Davids mom & Christellas uncle (living relative in charge of her) signing away there rights as parents and vowing that they want us to be their parents...They may not be alive anymore!!! How do you deal with that? And I only met them once...I'm so confused by everything right now! I've wondered from the day we all signed what it meant, I know its not the normal to sign papers at the same time as the parents or THIS EARLY in the process. We were told we were signing the Act of adoption, but from what I understand that is usaully done at the END of the process, after IBESR. I think they let us do it at that time because we were all together and signing in front of the judge for the new law he made stating that we must sign in person prooving we have seen the children. I remember them saying that we were signing the Act of Adoption, and it being a big dal, but I didn't understand then, and I still don't..This paper makes them legally OURS, but IBESR has not approved us yet, so techinically they are not! We had to go to 2 court houses because technically we were not at the right house the 1st time "the court house that had jurisdiction over the area that HIS home land in on"
I just found this

3. Finally, prospective adoptive parents must present the IBESR Authorization of Adoption to the “Tribunal Civil” (Civil Court) that has jurisdiction over the child’s residence in order to obtain an “Acte d’Adoption” (Adoption Act), which finalizes the child’s adoption.

This is the FINAL step, but we have already done this, this is why I am so connfused?

PLEASE DONT GET ME WRONG, I am devistated for ALL of haiti, but my heart and mind is stuck first and formost on MY children, ....I'm sorry for those who think this is selfish, but I can't change it, I want my babies safe RIGHT NOW, and then I want to do EVERYTHING I CAN to help the rest of the country, I love Haiti, it will be a permanent part of me...

1 year and IBESR!

Last December we decided to adopt. WE met over the phone an amazing couple that have devoted their lives to helping the children of Haiti, the missionaries that Run HIS home for Chidlren in Port Au Prince HAiti. We spent Jeds Christmas vacation gathering paperwork, and filling out forms. In January we started our homestudy and other VITAL things. We got passports, we met with a physicologist, we had medical exams, we got traveling immunizations, we traveled to CT for a birth certificate, we traveled to Boston twice to the Haitian consolate, we traveled to Haiti 3 times to hold our babies, we went to our secretary of state 3 times with papers to seal, we met with our wonderful lawyer in Miami twice, we have been fingerprinted at immigrations, we have been to the US embassy in Port Au Prince twice, and so many more steps!!!
And tonight it all paid off when we got word from our lawyer that we are IN IBESR!!! I dont know why this step has been so important to me...it just is! Finally the government there will know what we have known for a year, that these babies living in their country are part of US. I would say that right now they have the power to complete our family as quickly or slowly as they choose, but I KNOW thats not true, they ONLY have what power God allows them to have. And I firmly believe that God has given these children to us, and that recieving the paper from these offices, while SOOO important, is just a formality...making Legal to man, what I believe God has already decided. He put this desire in our hearts, he gaev these children to us, and one day they will be with us....

As for right now? I can stop praying to get into IBESR...and start praying to get out :)

I was just thinking

That I like my Kindle. A couple weeks ago I went to a movie. In the previews there was one for "Dear Jon" The movie looked good, but I was sure the book was WAY better. On Dec 26 we had a 2 hour drive to go to a birthday party so while we were driving I said "Can you download that book for me, the one from the movie preview, I'm sure it will be on the best sellers list, it was called Dear something" Within Min. (while he was driving) Jed got on my Kindle and had book there for me to read and I read it all by the next day :) And IT was a good book, easy to read, entertaining, a very nice story, and I"m sure....WAY better then teh movie will be.
